We are a society of people who enjoy sporting games. We love to participate in them and we love to watch them. Describe why you love to play and watch your favorite sports. If you were able to create your own sport, what would it involve? How would it be played? How do the people of the Capitol view the Hunger Games as nothing more than a sporting event?
I love to watch and play sports because it is an awesome activity to participate in. I think that if I made my own sport it would involve a football because football is an awesome game to play. People would play it kinda like baseball but with a football. The Capitol views the Hunger Games as nothing more than something to entertain themselves by taking away people's children to show the districts that we are stronger than you.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The Capitol thinks its fair to make Kids kill each other. Also they use it to entertain themselves which is not fair , like you said. The sport you came up with "football, baseball" sounds fun. I would enjoy playing it and it would be fun to watch unlike the hunger games

DeleteA sport I like to watch/play is football because it's very competitive in terms of winning and losing. Football is also a great sport because everyone has a favorite team they root for each and every week until the season is done. If I were to create a sport it would involve one team having to get from one point to another with the other team interfering. This sport is kind of like football but there are a little less rules to follow. The people of the Capitol view the Hunger Games as just a sporting event because every person is rooting for one or two tributes who compete each and every year for the role of the victor of the Hunger Games.

My favorite sport is softball. I love to play softball because I really enjoy it, it's a lot of fun once you know how to play and you have good technique. If you play on a travel team you practice and work hard together you also spend a lot of time together,the girls on my team are like my second family and were all really close. If I were able to create my own sport it would involve softball still but I would change the rules a bit,see instead of running to first base..third base would be first second would be second and first would be third. Hard but still fun.
ReplyDeleteI think that some people watch sports for pleasure but some people watch them to be competitive with friends and family.I watch sports for pleasure and it's something the whole family does together. I play sports for enjoyment I love to run and play soccer it's something my dad and me bond over and nothings more fun to me then kicking a ball around the yard with my family . If ever invented a sport it would be a sport with a few players on each team having fun running around nothing to competitive because in my family when things are competitive it brings out the ugly side of people. The people in the Capitol few it as a sport because they don't have to do the watch for enjoyment like most people do they don't care if people get hurt in the long run.

DeleteI completely agree with you, Veronica! Most people are very competitive when watching and playing sports. Especially football. I would love to make a sport that every one would have fun with. Being too competitive is never ok. I also agree with your sentence about the Capitol. They don't have to go into The Hunger Games and risk their life. They just have to watch other, helpless kids die. They only care for themselves and how they look.

I also enjoy sports especially team sports because you get To run around with your friends and play on the field with them. It is a lot of fun.

ReplyDeleteI would make a game that would mix basketball and softball together. Like there would be a basket and as soon as you get the ball you can only take 3 steps and then hand the ball off.
It's kind of like a hunting game because in the games you have to hunt people down until the last one remains.

DeleteI agree with you, sports are an enjoyable and social activity. I enjoy basketball, it's a big part of my life. As is swim team and horseback riding. Your idea for a game seems interesting. I think that the Capitol doesn't view the Hunger Games as anything more than a sport because they don't care about the kids in the game. To them, the kids are just pawns on a game board, characters in a book. They see the kids as entertainment and the Hunger Games as some fun show. It's quite disgusting how they think like that.
DeleteI love to play basket ball because it's one of the funniest sport in my point of veiw.The reason I watch is because it shows me different moves I could try out when I'm practsing.If I had a chanes to make my own sport it would have to do with things people would like to do, so it would involve a basket, ballasts, water, and speed. You would have to swim to each basket and because there more then one people trying to get the ball also you have to try to make it in the basket from 5ft.I think it sound like it would be fun.The Capitol I think is a bunch of not far people because they think because there rich I the people are a bunch of toys that are killing each other for there umosment. But what they don't know is that there being Forster because if they don't they would die ether way.I also loved the book.

The capital view the hunger games as nothing more than entertainment. They don't think of it as the people who actually have to participate in them do. Its terrible to think that the Capitol actually enjoys watching innocent people die and their doing it for entertainment.

DeleteI agree with you because in the sense of the Hunger Games the Capital does view it as a form of entertainment which is horrible because you are watching kids fight to the death and that should never happen. With the sports thing I also agree because you want to have fun doing it or it feels like its being forced like the Hunger Games.
I play softball because I think it's a fun and competitive. Sport it also gets you to meet new people and come closer with others. Also almost everyone in my family did or does play softball/baseball. If I could make my own sport it would be like a mixture of all sports by like getting Something similar to bowling but like instead of rolling the ball you would either throw a softball or baseball or like kick a soccer ball or throw the lacrosse ball and try to know all the pins down like bowling. I think it's better than the hunger games because it's fun and you can enjoy it instead of killing people.

I wouldn't really want to create a sport because there is different things about each sport that I like and I would not want to mix them up.

DeleteThe reason why sports are awesome is because there is non-stop action. It is fast paced and amazing. If I were to make it a sport I would make sure there would be no stereotype so boys AND girls can play it without being discriminated. I would make a sport with obstacle (safe) with running, jumping, manuevering and more. I would make it different from any other obstacle courses. I can see now why the capital people think the Hunger Games as a sport. It's thrilling (NOT) and action-packed (I guess). They just think of it as how we think of soccer or football. The difference is death. My favorite sport is soccer because you run and it feels like flying. Truly amazing!
ReplyDeleteThere is a reason why I'm in love with volleyball because I have a passion for sports ever silence I was little I love being involved with any physical activity. When I play volleyball I feel like I belong and know and can use my ability to play volleyball . I feel like every "sport" should be able robe treated equally . If I had to make up a sport I don't think I would because I love the sport I play and love the way it works and it fits my personality . I feel like the Capitol puts the Hunger Games all in a fun entertaining perspective I feel like they think its just another thing to fit into there life style . I think it's like the Olympics for them because it only comes once a year and thats the only thing they watch because it's entertaining .
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sport to play and watch on TV is swimming because it's more of an individual sport and success depends on how much you try individually. I like to watch it on TV because you get to have a favorite person and there won't be a team that might affect his or her performance. If I were able to create my own sport, it would be an individual sport because I think that a team might affect you if one person is doing a very poor job. The sport would be timed, so you can see who does the event the fastest, like seeing who can dig a certain size hole in the ground the fastest. The citizens of he Capitol don't really care about little kids like Rue dying in a game created by the Capitol and the people just think it is like a sport like swimming. They are concerned about the circumstances in the arena and just have fun watching it and betting on it or so.
ReplyDeleteWell I like this categorie because like I love basketball that's all I do is play basketball it's my life but it a good sport to play all the time I love watching nba tv and college basketball all the time my route is after practice go to home take a shower and then eat after words watch basketball until I get tired all the time if I could create a sport It would be something like basketball but you would have springs in your shoes always so when you jump your up to the roof and it's a challenge because you have to bounce all the way down the court

I believe if you like a sport then nothing can get in your way and nothing can stop you from providing you goals from that sport.

ReplyDeleteI love playing soccer and watching football. I have played soccer ever since I moved to Delaware in 2006. I love the rush after a quick juke and a crisp, clean pass. The sound of a soccer ball in the back of the net is my ringtone. The games are fast paced and draw blood like soccer. The winners win, the losers lose. There is no in-between.

I love to watch and play soccer, football, and basketball to increase my skill level and experience to those sports. I think the Capitol treats the Hunger Games as if it were a sporting event because it is an event that involves a lot of skill and cunning and has a big audience watching.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sports is soccer and cross country. Every time I go out and be active with my friends, I always have fun. I'm not a really big fan of watching sports unless it's the Olympics, because the Olympics are really competitive and you get to watch sports you usually don't get to play really often. Plus, you see how amazing and talented the athletes are, and it's worldwide competition. The Hunger Games is just a sport because the Capitol doesn't go through risking yourself to go through that, they don't have kids to place it in the reaping bowl. I agree with Varonica, the Capitol doesn't really care because they watch for pleasure, they really don't have the risk to get killed when they can just sit at home eating and becoming entertained.

If I had a chance to creat a new sport I would combine baseball and football because I like to watch both sports. If I were to create my own sport it would be street curling because curling seems so weird and everyone likes weird things so it would be perfect. How the capital finds the hunger games as nothing more as a game because they're in charge and they only have it to show how powerful they are so no one messses with them. But as we all know Katniss finds away around it.
ReplyDeleteI like to play like every sport but soccer but my favorite is either baseball or lacrosse. The bad thing is there both in the spring so it's kind of hard to play both but I do. Sports are fun because it's a way to get out of the house and hang out with friends. If I made a sport it would be a mixture like baseball with running and goals. You would have to hit the ball into a goal not through something like that. I still don't see how the hunger games is a sport because most sports are suppose to be friendly not killing.
