I think they live in the present and a little bit of the future I think this because when there living in the present there thinking like what am I going to eat where am I going to sleep for the night in the arena and when there living in the future there thinking what am I going to eat tomorrow and the day after
Well I agree because like you need a good night of sleep and also having a way to eat because you want to be fully hydrated in the hunger games to the point we're you feel like are unstoppable and sometimes wehen I'm over someone's house in the back of my head I'm thinking what am I going to eat eat while I'm here we're am I going to sleep while I'm here things like that run threw my mind just like what Katniss and others in the story was thinking

The characters in the Hunger Games live in the future. In this time period, the country of Panem lies in the ruins of what was North America. The Capitol rules Panem and is surrounded by 12 Districts(and a 13th that was destroyed in a war with he Capitol). I think this world is worse than ours because every year each district sends a boy and a girl between the ages of 12-18 to fight to the death in the Hunger Games.
I think that the hunger games is in the future because it amarica could have a hunger games . I think that Katniss would be better in our world she would be better off because we have tax money and she wouldent have to hunt every day and struggle to get food she can just go to the store and I think she would have a good egacation and have more friends that could help her get a job and get more money

So far I know this time period is dark and evil. One group of people rule Panam and will kill people for fun to show they are large and in charge. The people in The Capital of Panam live right, but all the districts are forced to make goods for the Capitol. Our world is better because not a lot of people are dieing of starvation. And everyone in America is free.
From Katniss' point of view, many people are dying of starvation. Are all the districts in that bad condition? Remember how they said District 12 was badly messed up? Many the other districts weren't as in as bad of a condition.
The Hunger Games is set in the future because there is a lot of extreme, advanced technology and medicine that we don't have today or in the past. Plus, the Capitol is a futuristic city. I learned that this time period is like a mix of the future and the past, because there are extremely poor people without running water and without any food, and they live in a similar lifestyle during colonial times. However, in the Capitol and in more luxurious districts, everything is high technology. This world is worse off than our world because if you live in Panem, you are either so wealthy or so poor. In addition to that, if you have a child or are a child, you have a possibility of competing for your life in the arena.
I agree because like it does kinda seem like it would be in the past but then again in the future. At first I thought it was in the past but now I think it would be future and past for your examples. Like the high technology, that your either wealthy or poor,the world is worse off in their world then ours,etc.

I personally think that this book takes place in the past. Well if you think about slavery that's what the district has done to these 12 (13) districts. As read in the book each district is assigned a special job. For example district twelve they work in the coal mines. People are starving there and the Capitol does nothing about it the government and or people in the world would tell them to stop doing this to their people. So obviously this had to have happened before the slavery rights were made which are located in the past!

I think that this story setting takes place in the present because Katniss is talking in first person while real events are happening. But in the beginning Katniss has a flash back about when her dad died and how she met Peeta in the rain walking home. The. In the middle of the story at the interview before the hunger games she tells Caesar a flashback about how h and gale met and why they are so close. What I learned from this time period is that it is very difficult in some of the lower districts and that the Capitol and mainly the first three districts get treated very fairly other than the other districts. I think that Katniss's world Is worse than ours because she is treated badly and isn't cared for

I agree Brody. Right now,looking outside, I don't see America in ruins and renamed "Panem". This must take place in the future and you know it because you have resources from the outside to help. Districts are another example,we have towns and city's instead of restricted districts and they aren't surrounded by electric fences.

They want a thin thin layer of rich people and a bunch of people In the middle class which is already happening with taxes. But regardless of right now your completely right about e government they have and the government we have because we have a democratic government not a dictator ship even though we might have criminals, we don't have little kids go to fight for there lives for entertainment
The charecters of the hunger games live in the future,it's kind of obvious because if you look outside now you don't see this kind of stuff happening out in America. Because of the setting and the kind of things happening in the setting, you can infer that this is further ahead in time,possibly around maybe year 3000 something. Another key thing is the technology and advances used in the Capitol, like the crystal elevators and bio dome for the free for all. You would only see that in the future times,not now.
Nick I agree with you because I have watch the a little bit of the hunger games movie about 1 hour of the movie and the train they were riding was like a big hovercraft hovering over the track.
Good point CJ,hovercrafts and magnetic trains are existing today but are still being developed. Things like this only exist for HVP use or military conduct. Bio domes used for the hunger games are generated by computer aids but spawn in real plant life,things like that are nowhere near possible today.
I think that they live in the future because panel is the ruins of what used to be north America and I believe that panel is worse because the send a boy and girl off to their death once every year for the male and female of the ages 12-16.
I think they live in the future because they have more advanced technology than now. Ain't nobody walking around in the 1920's had their own hovercrafts, there's nobody today with one either unless your like bill gates. So it has to be the future.
I think that they live in the future because in the beginning Katniss says, in the ruins of North America, where we live now. The Capitol, which I suppose is supposed to be our 'government', has advanced technology, way more advanced than the technology we have today. Then she goes on about how the districts rebel against the Capitol, resulting in District 13 being demolished and the Hunger Games created to keep everyone in line. So I do not think that their would is better than ours, because their government sends their children to kill each other every year, and let's the districts starve to death, basking in the glory of being powerful and rich.

Every year they have the speech about how Panem "Rose from the ashes" the used to be America. Knowing that America is still a country and somewhat successful and has been since its establishment, I know that this story takes place in the future. -Throughout this book, I've noticed what seems to be a unpopular prediction of the future: that it will get worse for the majority of people. Many people make the assumption of the future being filled with technology, education, etc. and overall a better place. The author of "The Hunger Games" shows the world getting worse. People are out of jobs and working desperately trying to find one. The living conditions are terrible for most of the districts. It also shows the government as a dictatorship. They overrule everything and have complete power. -To me, the world h gotten worse. They are more strict and are out to work. You loose the fun parts of childhood. Your life then is a life to worship your government. Today, in my life. I have freedom to do so much! I have opportunities to become a better person and have a better life.
I think that this takes place in the future because the train is very fast and you still can't feel it moving and in the Capitol everyone looks weird. I olso think that catniss has it worse than us because in her world she has to be scared that she will be picked to die in the hunger games as well as her siblings and friends!

I think now and there time is about the same because they have way new technology like cream that heals burns and a shower where you can push a button and it will put it on that setting but I think the futures bad because they have the capitol who controls all of the districts and 23 people die every year by getting forced

Seth it did happen in the past when slavery was happening we all to had to fight for food and for our lives. But the Rest of what you said is very true I agree with the part when you said that that there was a great rebellion with the Capitol. I don't think the capitol should split the districts into12 parts I think they should all come together to stop with this rebellion. In the story it says when rue died katniss had decorated her body with flowers to show that the Capitol should not be doing this to the people and the kids

I think katniss is living in the future because I know from background knowledge that there was slavery and it got talked about a lot because it was an big impact in history,and if hunger games happend in the past it would of been talked about because that would be an impact. Now if it was present we would go through the fear,pain that I imagine katniss goes through and to be honest we probably wouldn't have I pads or even know each other. The reason I think it is in the future is because I know it didn't happen in the past or present and on page 41 in the book the last paragraph it states that "the capitol was built in the rockies" which we call today and it states. "hundred of years ago they mined coal" and right now we mine coal. So it would have happend 100 years in the future. That is why I think it is in the future.:)
I believe that Katniss lives in the future. I believe this because in one of the first pages of the book she states that she lives in a country called Panem that rose from the ashes of a country called North America, and from what I know we presently live in North America. Another reason I believe that Katniss lives in the present because when she explains about how the the hunger games were born on the tribute train she said the Capitol was located in the appalachia mountains which was a major factor of the districts losing the war . Another reason Katniss lives in the future is because in the next book Catching Fire when she and Peeta are on the victory tour she states that district 11 is located in a place once known as California which is why District 11 is the agriculture district. Another reason that Katniss lives in the future is from all the gadgets they have in the Capitol, for example the hair blower,detangeler, and shiner all from pressing your hand to a little metal platform. Also the fact that food can appear at the press of a button is amazing! I learned that in this time period you can detangle your hair instantly and you have the ability to change you skin pigments to a different color. I believe that this world is better than our worold presently because you can do amazing things besides the flaw of the hunger games this world seems amazing.

DeleteThe charecters of the hunger games live in the future,it's kind of obvious because if you look outside now you don't see this kind of stuff happening out in America. Because of the setting and the kind of things happening in the setting, you can infer that this is further ahead in time,possibly around maybe year 3000 something. Another key thing is the technology and advances used in the Capitol, like the crystal elevators and bio dome for the free for all. You would only see that in the future times,not now.

DeleteGood point CJ,hovercrafts and magnetic trains are existing today but are still being developed. Things like this only exist for HVP use or military conduct. Bio domes used for the hunger games are generated by computer aids but spawn in real plant life,things like that are nowhere near possible today.

ReplyDeleteI think that they live in the future because in the beginning Katniss says, in the ruins of North America, where we live now. The Capitol, which I suppose is supposed to be our 'government', has advanced technology, way more advanced than the technology we have today. Then she goes on about how the districts rebel against the Capitol, resulting in District 13 being demolished and the Hunger Games created to keep everyone in line. So I do not think that their would is better than ours, because their government sends their children to kill each other every year, and let's the districts starve to death, basking in the glory of being powerful and rich.
ReplyDelete-I think that this book takes place in the future. I know this because in the beginning, the mayor of Panem is telling the story of how Panem came to be. Every year they have the speech about how Panem "Rose from the ashes" the used to be America. Knowing that America is still a country and somewhat successful and has been since its establishment, I know that this story takes place in the future.
ReplyDelete-Throughout this book, I've noticed what seems to be a unpopular prediction of the future: that it will get worse for the majority of people. Many people make the assumption of the future being filled with technology, education, etc. and overall a better place. The author of "The Hunger Games" shows the world getting worse. People are out of jobs and working desperately trying to find one. The living conditions are terrible for most of the districts. It also shows the government as a dictatorship. They overrule everything and have complete power.
-To me, the world h gotten worse. They are more strict and are out to work. You loose the fun parts of childhood. Your life then is a life to worship your government. Today, in my life. I have freedom to do so much! I have opportunities to become a better person and have a better life.
I think that this takes place in the future because the train is very fast and you still can't feel it moving and in the Capitol everyone looks weird.

I think this book is placed in the future because the can mutate humans and animals and get food to people in a matter of seconds. I think now and there time is about the same because they have way new technology like cream that heals burns and a shower where you can push a button and it will put it on that setting but I think the futures bad because they have the capitol who controls all of the districts and 23 people die every year by getting forced

I think that katniss is worse off in her world than we are in ours because she has been selected to fight to the death in an areas for the entertainment of the people in the capitol.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the Hunger Games is written in the future because when Katniss was on the train looking at the capitol she mentioned that before the Capitol was "Built in a place called the Rockies. District 12 was was in the region known as the Appalachia." Katniss included saying hundreds if years ago they were still coal miners.
DeleteI think there living in the past because in the past they always use there knifes bow and arrows but now a days people use other vilant weapon because today is the future and way back when was the past because there are not a lot of people that were in a game to risk there life because that would be crazy that someone would do that and there is really not much people that would like killing others just to win a game

DeleteI think that Hunger Games takes place in the future because it's in North America and that hasn't happened in the past and it's not happing right now.What I have learned about this time period is that there was a great rebellion against the Capitol,and the Capitol split the people into 12 districts that do a specific thing to do for the Capitol..Like district 12 mines coal for the Capitol to use.i also learned that every year they do Hunger Games to make them suffer for the rebellion.I think that Katniss would do better in our world because she won't have to kill her own food,she wont have to take care of her mom and Prim,she could still hunt if she wanted,she could o to better schools,and she would not have to fight for her life and worry about if her mom and sister are okay,or even alive.

But the Rest of what you said is very true I agree with the part when you said that that there was a great rebellion with the Capitol. I don't think the capitol should split the districts into12 parts I think they should all come together to stop with this rebellion. In the story it says when rue died katniss had decorated her body with flowers to show that the Capitol should not be doing this to the people and the kids

Only one person wins in the hunger games. But it is different in the 74th annual hunger games because of Peeta and katniss. And I think her world is more adventures but not good as in mony wise so i think taking risks is dangerouse but I would do it so it is better and all you really need is family and your good to go.

One of the main events is the hunger games in the country of panem, they throw kids in an arena and make them kill each other,while they watch. The Hunger games takes place in the future. I have learned that this time period is very unfair and cruel, due to a district (13) rebelling against the Capitol. The book makes it very clear that this time period is far worse than ours. At least in the present people are not held against their own will by their own government (U.S.A.) like they are in the Hunger games.

In the story when katniss was in the shower it said that all she had to do was push a button and it would set her shower. Also it said there was a remote that would change the scene of the window you can see the capitol from. In this time period I have learned that there once was a 13th district but they got in a war with the Capitol and the Capitol destroyed them. I think the world katniss lives in is worse in our world because her world you have to work a lot more than in this world. In this world you can eat the food that you work for or any other supplies you gather but in her world you can get punished.
ReplyDeleteI think katniss is living in the future because I know from background knowledge that there was slavery and it got talked about a lot because it was an big impact in history,and if hunger games happend in the past it would of been talked about because that would be an impact. Now if it was present we would go through the fear,pain that I imagine katniss goes through and to be honest we probably wouldn't have I pads or even know each other. The reason I think it is in the future is because I know it didn't happen in the past or present and on page 41 in the book the last paragraph it states that "the capitol was built in the rockies" which we call today and it states. "hundred of years ago they mined coal" and right now we mine coal. So it would have happend 100 years in the future. That is why I think it is in the future.:)

I believe this because in one of the first pages of the book she states that she lives in a country called Panem that rose from the ashes of a country called North America, and from what I know we presently live in North America. Another reason I believe that Katniss lives in the present because when she explains about how the the hunger games were born on the tribute train she said the Capitol was located in the appalachia mountains which was a major factor of the districts losing the war . Another reason Katniss lives in the future is because in the next book Catching Fire when she and Peeta are on the victory tour she states that district 11 is located in a place once known as California which is why District 11 is the agriculture district. Another reason that Katniss lives in the future is from all the gadgets they have in the Capitol, for example the hair blower,detangeler, and shiner all from pressing your hand to a little metal platform. Also the fact that food can appear at the press of a button is amazing! I learned that in this time period you can detangle your hair instantly and you have the ability to change you skin pigments to a different color. I believe that this world is better than our worold presently because you can do amazing things besides the flaw of the hunger games this world seems amazing.
