Survival
When we face adversity, we often use skills that we are good at to survive. Peeta uses his cake decorating skills to camouflage himself in the arena, helping him to survive a knife wound to the leg, tracker jacker bites, and a raging fever. If you needed to hide, what skills would you use to help yourself stay safe?
I would use my hide and seek skills I would hide everything also I would have to use some thing else than just hide and seek because when someone finds me I would be caught but if I use my painting skill I could paint my self camo

DeleteFrankie and Cloey has a good point but he can use HARMLESS berries and mud to make a kind of paint to camouflage himself. And it's not just about not getting hiding from everyone and killing people you also have to have a source of food and water to stay mostly healthy and to survive
DeleteI don't think hide and seek would work really well in a life or death situation. I half to give you props though because the hunger games is a game and in a arena kinda like a really big backyard except with killing and your actually playing for something. Life or death.
DeleteIf I would try to stay alive if I were in the hunger games, I would definitely use camoflouge as my source. I would find maybe very thick brush in the woods and cover myself in mostly leaves and mud. I would try to find a hiding place that other tributes, like the careers, would not expect. That way, I would stay a lot more safe from harm and being killed. In the story, katniss had mentioned that is was a large arena so with only a couple of tributes left, that is a lot of space. So knowing that there is a lot of space, hide in a spot that is toward the outside of the arena and not noticable. You don't want to be noiced.
ReplyDeleteYea I would stay alive but I wouldn't be a chicken an cower I would get or make a bow and arrow from my recorces or steal one and kill off other remaining tributes and try to end it as soon as possible
DeleteI agree but what if you don't know how to use the resources or weapons? Then trying to get the weapons would be no use. Or what if you don't even know how to make a bow and arrow or another weapon? Plus, there would be no way to kill another tribute without a weapon. Unless you get lucky like Katniss did and happen to pick a tree with a tracker jacker nest to j climb up into and the other tributes just "just happen" to be under the tree with the tracker jackers and happen to be under the spot where the nest is anyway. The tributes could have been at the other side. So therefore, there is only a 50/50 chance that you will get lucky.
DeleteNow, I also know and understand that I will need to try to kill the ore tributes and not just hide the entire time. Maybe set up traps around the arena that might kill them or injure them, such as snares, ditches, poisonous food or sources that might trick them into thinking its edible, and so on. That way, you will kill off tributues with out putting yourself in danger of getting killed or hurt.
Thats my strategy as well! When I think about the Hunger Games I think about getting up in trees but you'r right getting as far away from people as possible is a great strategy too. In the book they never talk about expecting the unexpected, which is agreat idea!
DeleteIf I had to protect my self from the other killer tributes I would secure myself in the trees like Katniss and Rue did to hide from the careers.i would also try to get ahold of some knifes in case the predators came in search of my hide out.I also think an ally would help for hunting and survival
ReplyDeleteIf I had to protect myself from the killer tributes I would of hidden like under something because they are less likely to find you because they wouldn't want to keep looking around for you because they would kill another person Instead of focusing on you because if you hide behind a tree they are most likely to find you easier than they would find me.

ReplyDeleteIf I had to protect myself from other tributes I would use tree climbing skills and hide in trees and then get a bow and arrow and shot other tributes from the tree when I see them. So therefor I would my athletic ability to help me climb the trees and use my legs to keep me up and from falling while I shoot people to help me win the games :)

DeleteI don't agree like Haymitch said find a source of water first. Also why would you drop on them if the could easily kill you first with their weapon from the cornucopia which you avoided!
DeleteBut what if they have a weapon with all they need is a stab or something like that and you're dead.
DeleteWhat if some one has the same plan as you and see where you are running to, then they follow you and try and kill you? You could get injured or die from them , then you may not be able to heal fast enough and that will effect you later on In the Hunger GAmes
DeleteI disagree because, the girl, Glimmer, who snagged the arrows, what if she did know how to shoot, or a smaller tribute could spot you and scale the tree to bring to your death. If you do hide in a tree, you would have to climb extremely high so no one could get you, do jumping would be out of the equation. Besides, if the tribute had a knife, as Clove did, they could easily turn around and stab you. I would most likely running as fast as I could to get a backpack, or a weapon, then run as far as I can, in search of water as Katniss did. After that I would gather food and hunt, keeping a wary eye out for enemies, climbing trees in the meantime to hide, shooting down anyone in my path.
DeleteI would survive in the hunger games by going to a water source so I can drink and not get dehydrated. The I would worry about food, then worry about weapons. I would also try to set up traps for other people trying to gang up or team up and become ally's. Then later on in the games I would try to sneak to the cornucopia to get supplies like night vision goggles, or things that could be essential to my survival. Then I will worry about killing other opponents or tributes.

I think your survival would be most important of all compared to having to worry about killing off the the others first.I think finding a water source and food supply would be number one on my list as well then would be getting ahold of other items such as a sleeping bag for the chilled nights the game makers cause or like you said night vision goggles and a place to hide out for the nights as I would keep an eye out for any predators that might lurk around .
DeleteI agree with you Anthony. I believe that would work out vary well but where would you hide during the day? Also I like how at night you would sneak around to get supplies but what if other tributes where there like Foxface or Thresh is there? All I got to say is you better RUN!!! :)

DeleteTrue! For some people all they think is about kill then work when really you need to make sure you actually survive. With out a water source and food you would be to weak to hunt anyway. I would have a problem with the food though. I wouldn't eat rabbits or squirrels. I can see why they do though, they are not picky because food is food and food is scarce
DeleteIf I was in the hunger games I would probably hide in the tree and wait for a supplies kit to come to me so I could get food and medicine and water. After I did that I would set traps and wen they walked by I would just pick them off from there
ReplyDeleteBy supply kit do you mean sponsors? If you do I don't think that would work because sponsors want to see the games and survival not sitting in a tree waiting unless you absolutely have to

DeleteIf I was trying to hide from the other tributes I would find knives and other weapons that were light so It would be easier to climb and run. I would also set traps so if I had to kill i would be far away so other tributes couldn't detect me. For food I would team up to protect each other and hunt together so we can bring in more food. The other advantage of this is you are able to sleep in shifts so you can keep watch.

DeleteIf I need to hide because of my wounds I have to build traps and steaks then hide somewhere else like where water and food is. But if they find me I would have a knife at my side then hide in a different spot.
ReplyDeleteI personally don't want to kill people so I would be like fox face, flee not hide. I am also very light so I could climb trees. I don't want to kill people but I would if there were under me and they were about to kill me. I don't know how to use any weapons. I would also run away from anyone who tried to attack me and I'll go like that for a good distance. I think I would run to where NO one would find me

DeleteI would find an awesome hiding place in like a tree so then no one would find me I would hide up there until like the end of the games and be all like POW POW POW!!!!!!!! Then boom everybody's roasted and I have won the hunger games.

DeleteI agree because just like Rue from District 11,she was able to make it very far into the Games with the abilities to hide very well, despite being fairly smaller than the rest of the participants. It's great that you don't have to be strong and powerful to win the Games.
DeleteWell I would use some hunting skills you would want to hide and camouflage your self in the woods and put a couple twigs and branches on you and along the way near you you would want to put a couple of traps so if someone was to get in your trap you would kill them and you would keep doing that.
ReplyDeleteSome skills I would use are climbing skills because I would want to get away from the ground so if there is any intense action down there I wouldn't get injured or hurt in any way. Also, another reason I would use my climbing skills is so if you are in the trees with all the branches and animals and leaves, it is harder for people to find you especially since they're on the ground and your high up in a tree.

ReplyDeleteIf i had to hide, I would u we speed and deception to stay alive. I would isolate myself from the enemies as fast as possible, and then trick them. For example, I would put false tracks in the mud that lead to traps, leave other clues that lead to places that I'm not at, and start fires like Katniss did to confuse them.
ReplyDeleteLorenzo, I think those are very good skills that would work in the arena very effectively. I would also do the same things if I needed to hide because when I was playing manhunt one time in the snow the other team made tracks causing me and my friend to look the way that the tracks were going and they ended up being in the complete other direction. I would also use traps, like snares close to where I am hiding so that if an enemy comes close to me they can't tangled up and I could easily kill them with a knife. But mainly I think confusing the enemies would be my favorite skill to use.

DeleteIf I had to survive in the woods I would definitely use a bow and arrow because yes you could use a knife,but the thing is that with a bow and arrow you can shoot a long distance which is a good thing if you want to survive. I would also find trees and mud because then I could make myself blend in and I could do a lot with the nature so that's why I choose those two things in the hunger games if I wanted to stay alive
ReplyDeleteI would dig into a cliff with a knife or sharp edged weapon and hide in there away in isolation, away from other tributes and wait for them to kill each other and wait for everyone else to die while I go hunting in my area.
ReplyDeleteCamouflage is good for denser areas of the biome,like the forest. You have to remember, there's other parts too like the lake,the plains and the fields. Camo isn't going to work well in open areas unless you have thick grass to hide in. Like most of you said,using the tree's elevation to hide up high would work well too. Using spare twigs,leaves,and some other brush you could blend perfectly into the tree line. Having the ranged bow and arrows is and added plus because your able to stay hidden and shoot down at others walking by. Maybe placing pit traps covered by grass tarps could close off a well used area too.

DeleteWith my hunting skills I am really good at I could hunt during the day and sleep and eat at night.with the survival skills I know I will be able to hide up in a tree.i would not trust anyone just to be on the safe side of thing,I will camo anything that is bright colored and my self so could hunt without being seen by any other person in the woods or at there camp sites. I would go nice and slow so I would not be heard by anyone and use my camo skills to cover myself in mud.
ReplyDeleteIf I needed to survive with the wounds Peeta had, I would find a spot that was secluded from the rest of the arena (a cave or under some rocks) that would keep me hidden. The last thing you want in that condition is some one finding you. If Peeta's wounds were gone I would stay low while moving so the bushes would hide me. Which would make it easy to sneak up on a target.
ReplyDeleteIf I was trying to stay hiding I would some how make a snorkel so I would be able to hide under the water if someone passed by but I wouldn't stay under their for ever. I would just use that as a place to hide from a trailer for a couple of minutes but to protect my self I would use my throwing skills to throw a spear or knives.
ReplyDeleteTo stay alive if I was in the Hunger Games I defiantly not live in a tree because Im afraid of climbing trees and those " trusting" branches. I would run far away from anyone else and of course near water. I would keep moving farther from people all the time because I don't mind being by myself and the farther away I am from people the safer I feel. I would also use camouflage, I don't mind getting dirty so it wouldn't be hard for me personally.
ReplyDeleteHaha Jordan! Afraid of trees? It's the same way you're afraid of getting kidnapped or eaten by a vicious dog! But if you think, multiple times in the story, the wanted the tributes to come back to a certain place to gather an item or something along those lines. If you're far away from everyone and the main part of action, you will miss put on a lot of things. The gamemakers also place you in an area where a lot of resources are.
DeleteIf I was in the Hunger Games, the skills I would use to help me survive the Hunger Games is running away from tributes as far as I could, and just hiding out until there was only a few tributes left in the Games. I don't think I could really attack another tribute or confront anyone with a fight, I would just keep a low profile and hope my wits could keep me alive. If someone was on to me, I would do something defensive to keep me alive, but I mainly would rely on my quickness, not strength. The only skills I have in terms of survival is basic; like how to find water, and that's probably it...
ReplyDeleteTraMi, I have that same type of idea for a strategy but if it came down to it I would probably fight if I had to defend myself. Adrenalin would most likely kick in and help to get through the fight ending with me dead, or alive. Running away would work for a period of time but when it came down to it there would (at some point in time) end up having you and another person left in the arena and in order to end the games, one of you would need to kill one another.

ReplyDeleteTo survive in the arena I would definitely first get away from the other tributes and find a cave or shelter near water. Also if your near water than animals will come up and drink from it. So you will be able to have food and when the animals stop coming you can go find a different spot. If I couldn't find shelter or a cave I would find a tree and climb it so that when you see a tribute on the ground underneath you, you can shoot or throw what ever weapon you have at them.
ReplyDeleteTo survive in the hunger games by out smarting my enemies by lighting various fires and hopefully attract more then on of them causing them to fight one another to increase my chances of winning.Also I would use the wild life to my advantage by leading them into wild carnivores and climb trees so the predator will chase them instead of me.
ReplyDeleteIf I were in The Hunger Games I would probably grab what I could at the Cornucopia, then run as far away as I could to a source of water. Then I would fill my water bottle then try to hunt something. After that I would make a ember fire without causing smoke to cook the food. Then I would set up camp in a tree and wait out for the majority of people to kill each other and eventually try to make an ally with someone I could benefit from. I think I might have a slight chance of surviving in The Hunger Games.
ReplyDeleteI would most likely use agility and stealth while under the cover of darkness to win the game.I would also look for water then string myself high in a tree and wait out the games until I absolutley have to show myself.Once I know I have a chance I will swoop down like a hawk to a field mouse and strike through the back of my victims neck
ReplyDeleteIf I was in the hunger games my skills would be like running away from other contenders and I have good aim so maybe I could do the knife throughing. The arrow I could probably use but since there's only one thing of arrows in the arena I would go for something else. Like Katniss I would get a pack first then run and find a source of water. My best bet would be climbing I'm small enough to climb a tree fast. I would be good at sleeping on nothing but a branch.
ReplyDeleteIf I had an injury like Peeta (cut on his leg) I would camouflage myself by using my creative skills and blend in with the leaves and ground. I would also use stealth skills to blend in with the trees and jump around like Rue would do at night to help travel faster. That's what I would use to survive in the hunger games if I was injured
ReplyDeleteI would use my ninja skills to quietly sneak around the arena and wait for the other opponents to run by then I can kill them by surprise. I would also use my hide and seek skills to hide near tree's and camouflage my self with sticks, leaves, and grass, then wait silently for anyone to run by. That would also make me be not such a threat, so not many people will want to come after me .
ReplyDeleteAnd take any weapon they have on them after that I would trail everyone but the careers into the woods and pick them off one by one. After that it is time for the careers for this group of people I would set traps that are made of all natural things then get there attention and run away avoiding all of the traps I set and as the careers trail me they would get caught up in all of the traps I set and die from the spikes and sharp objects that pierce their bodies after that a victor is born
ReplyDeleteI will also fine leaves and berries or things that can heal and disinfect my cut and wounds. I would keep track off where the Careers are so I know if am being tracked or not. When I know I am not being followed I will start picking of my enemies one by one and letting other people take care of some of the other tributes, while I am restocking on food or recovering from the wounds I got in fights. THEN I WOULD WIN!!!! By killing the rest of the people left in the games.......
ReplyDeleteWhat u would do is I would run as far as I could from the tributes.ill find a cave or a shelter that would not be visible for the tributes. Also I'll what a shelter around a river/stream and dry land. I'll live out of the fish by fishing for them.the dry land I would use by hunting small game,and find wood for fire. As I'm looking I'll make a secret path that would lead me to a safe spot. I'll make traps that would kill/ hurt the tributes.

ReplyDeleteWhat I would do if I were in a survival situation I would be to use my archery and trap setting skills. I would also be like Katniss and live in the trees being able to watch every movement.
ReplyDeleteIf I was trying to survive, I wouldn't actually hide. I believe that when you're in hiding, you are restrained to that place and are unaware of what's happening. I would be running everywhere and would never be stable. When the time comes to leave, you won't be ready. I think it would be much like the strategy Rue had. She was hopping around in trees and spying on people. When Katniss released the tracker-jacker, Rue was hopping around in the trees and she was very fast and sly. She was able to gain so much knowledge from that technique.
ReplyDeleteWhat I would do is when the game starts I would hide for a few hours until I feel is though I'm getting hungry and go sneak and get food and to be smart I would make sure I have clothing to match the surroundings around me so that I would blend in with at least a couple of things and I wouldn't come out until the end of the hunger games and then and when the last guy is the only one left with me I will make a attack plan and make my move as I here the guy say Davione is the WINNER!!!!
