Point of View

Hunger Games is written in the first person point of view, through the eyes of Katniss.  She tells us her feelings and everything she is experiencing.  How would Hunger Games be different if it was told through the eyes of Peeta? Gale? or Prim?  Choose one of those characters and tell how the story's plot would change.

  1. Hunger games would be different if it was in the eyes of Prim because she would probably be talking about how she misses her sister and that she wants her to come back home and hopes that Katniss would keep her promise that she will win the hunger games for her.

    1. I think they would be very different Sydney... So I agree with you. Prim sees the world as a happy place that no hate exists. Katniss sees the world as a place of hatred and neglect. The story would be different entirely.

    2. I agree with you. Prim is probably missing her sister very much. When she sees her on the television getting hurt, she is probably devastated. Prim also knows that if Katniss wins, sheer family will be rich and never hungry. I think prim really believes in her sister. If it was written in Prims, this is how it would be.

    3. If the story were written through a different point of view and perspective, the story would differ greatly. All of the events, and their effect on the course of the plot, are events off of which the entire story is based, and many of which could only be expressed through Katniss. If the story were narrated differently, certain and many insights would not be provided. If the story were told through the perspective of Prim, it would not include all of The actions of Katniss and her thoughts, as well as the symbolism of her actions, such as her defiance against the Capitol during the games. Instead, it would provide the life of Prim, and her insight into the games, and worries for Katniss.

  2. If the point of view switched to Peeta's,we would see a big change in the story. We would discover how Peeta and the Careers acted and what they did to survive, what they were plotting to do to Katniss, and how the Peeta would have felt, what with how he adores Katniss and how that effects him throughout the games.

  3. If the point of view was gales than he could talk about how he feels about katniss and explain more about his life. Also when katniss and peeta kissed. Than gale could explain his thoughts, feelings, and concerns. I think that would help explain more about him.

  4. I think if the story was told in the point of view of Peeta the games would be different for the first half of the games because Peeta is in the alliance against Katniss. Peeta also has a very different perspective on the world. The reader would also know why Peeta joined the Careers and shook his head "no" in the very beginning of the games. It would explain more about Peeta himself.

  5. I think if the story was done from the point of view of peeta it would be a lot different because it would mostly be about how much pain he is going through.i think he would be also talking about how much katniss means to him so it would probably turn into some type of romance/pain book.

    1. I don't think the book would of turned in a romance/pain book I think it would of just turned into a sad action book

    2. I think the same thing. The only thing is that someone would have to die and that would make it a depression book.

    3. I agree with both of you so it kind of would be like a mixture of all of are things .so good thing we did not right the book or it would be too long For people to read and if not to long it would be straight just straight to long. So shout out to the man or women to make such a great entertaining book

  6. I think if the story was told in Prims point of view it would be different. First off during the reaping we can know Prims exact thoughts. We also will understand the intensity of her fear for the reaping. Since she is watching the games we understand she will hold hope for Katniss, cry in the bleakest moments and hold hope for Katniss to win.

    1. I totally agree because prim would be crying and like "NOOOOOOOO! Katniss don't die:(" she would be really emotional

    2. Yes Lexi I would think too she would like literily say noooooooooooooooooooo! And she would of started to get really emotional because that was like her best friend you know what mean Lexi.

  7. If the story was told by Peeta it would be different because Peeta like katniss so they might had went out no the story would be so lovely .

  8. I think that if the story Hunger Games were written in a different point of view the story would not be as exciting because Katniss seems like she has the most suspenseful story as a pose to Gale or Peeta. If Peeta were narrating the story we would get to know how he feels and why he is doing the things that he's doing and he would express his love for Katniss. The story would not be as good because we would not have Katniss questioning his actions and there would not be as many questions for the reader to ask. I would not like Peeta narrating because there would be too much information from him and there would not be Katniss trying to decide over Gale or Peeta.

    1. I agree. The whole make up of the book all deals with Katniss. If it were Gales point of view it would be boring. If it was Peeta's point of view this would be a romantic book BUT it's NOT! From Katniss's point I view I think it makes it a suspensive, action packed, edge of your seat book!

  9. The story would change very differently if it were Peeta's point of view by, he is very different from Katniss. He is a baker's son, he doesn't know how to hunt, and that all he does is bake. But he does know how to camoflauge himself. When they are in the arena Peeta would talk about how it would be being ally's with the Careers. Then when he was injured by Cato, how painful it was. When he was saved by Katniss and what went through his mind when him and Katniss kissed.

  10. If the point of view changed from Katniss to another character in the Hunger Games like Prim, Gale, or Peeta, the plot would have different emotions and feelings throught out it. For example, if the book was told in Gale's perspective, it wouldn't contain much of the action taking place in the Games/Arena, sincere didn't actually participate in it. Instead, it might show Gale's true feelings towards Katniss, his life as a hunter in the Meadow, seeing the action in the Hunger Games on television, and his opinions about the events taking place. We might be able to see his true emotions and thoughts, which would definitely be different from Katniss's point of view.

    1. I agree with the Peeta part there would not be much action because he did not do that much

    2. I agree because if the story was told from gale's point of view then it wouldn't have much action in it and it would be boring but it would express more about gale and what's going on in district 12 while katniss is out there fighting.

  11. When Peeta and Katniss kissed. And in the story there is a love triangle going on between Katniss, Gale, and Peeta.

  12. If the point of view was told trough the eyes of someone other than katniss because everyone has a different point of view. For exsample if the story was told trough the eyes of someone who did not get picked in the reaping the bookmwould only consist of a lot of worrying and brief updates on the games, or if it was told trough the eyes of peata he would not be so nervous about speaking in public because peata nseems to be a natural born actor.

  13. If the point of view was switched to either Peeta or Gale the story would change drastically. If it was Gale, we would learn about how his life changed when Katniss left to go compete in the Hunger Games(how his daily schedule changed). if it was Peeta we would learn about his experience with the Careers.

  14. The hunger games would be completely different if it was in the eyes of Gale. Just imagine your best friend and hunting partner might died. Havering to take care of five family members is hard enough now that if she dies he has two more mouths to feed. It would completely change the scene and emotion of the whole story.

  15. I think it would be very different because they don't think like Katniss dose. They are different people and they do different thing and act a whole lot different. You would also not know what Katniss is like.

  16. I think the point of view would be a lot different if the point of view was about Cato because he was one of the career tributes. He never had to worry about not having enough supplies (until Katniss blew it up) and he knew the other career tributes had his back if they fought somebody. If the point of view was about Cato then I think there would be a lot more killing because Cato and the careers killed a lot more people then everybody else and I think the book would have a few scenes that have Cato trying to look for Katniss.

    1. I agree and also they had a huge advantage because there "alliance" had trained fighters (except peeta). They also pretty much had total control over the battlefield.

  17. The character I chose was Prim and the story would change a lot because we would be on the witnessing side of the story, not the action side. We wouldn't have much action, but we would experience some things we couldn't in Katniss' point of view. We could finally see what is going through Prim's mind. Like, why she is so sensitive, why she is not afraid of injuries. Also, what happens during the games in their world.

  18. If the story was told from another character like Peeta, the story would be a lot less exciting. Peeta is injured for a lot of the games and can't really do anything. This side of the story would involve a lot more of his thinking than his action, like Katniss. Katniss' side of the story is a lot of action scenes. The story from Peeta's point of view would take away Katniss' confusion on Peeta and him being with the careers. Both sides of the story would be interesting and intertwine together.

  19. I think that if Peeta told it thrue his eyes he would tell how he got beat by his mother or he would probably call katniss poor when he told the story about him giveing Her bread

  20. If the story was told in prims point of view it would be a lot different. She could only talk about stuff that happens on tv. She wouldn't know what happens in the arena and she would be much more scared than Katniss.

  21. If this story was told by, maybe Peeta, the story would change dramatically, because instead of an insolent hunter, it's told by the bakers son who risks his life for Katniss, the feelings that he portrays during Katniss's point of view would be explained, compared to Katniss's confused, forced feelings. He would tell about the different strategies he used to survive, and we would learn about his past instead.

  22. If the story was told from Prim's point of view, the story would b e drastically different. There would be no action, and the story would be about the long boring days at home. Also, we would never know Katniss's true feelings because she keeps a straight face the whole time or is acting/lying for the cameras.

    1. I agree but Prim would have so many emotions due to watching her loving sister Katniss on the TV, so vulnerable to being killed at any moment.

      Delete
    2. Even though katniss keeps a straight face the whole time. She is very confused for love with Peeta when she's unsure if Peeta loves her or not because she doesn't know if he's still acting for the camera or not since he mentions the first day of school and other true statements.

  23. If you think about how the story would be different through the eyes of prim,a lot of things would be different in this amazing story. The beginning would be about her probably having her nightmares and waking her mom up to stay with her. The middle, when katniss takes her position for the games,is probably thinking then "no no no no...this can't be happening. They can't just take my sister and stick her in a free for all deathmatch!" then as the games happen, she acquires hope in katniss winning after she allies with Rue and Peeta. Later on,after she is injured by fire,Prim would be heart struck after seeing this happen in live vision. No one here would want to see their sibling get burned by a huge fireball on the leg,I know I wouldnt. Either way,the story of "The Hunger Games" would start, climax, and end very different from the original plot.
