Describe what you believe is the role of a government. How are they supposed to care for their people? What freedoms should they give to their people? Can you share your knowledge about places throughout the world who's government does not offer their people very much freedom? How would you feel if your freedom was taken away? How does the government control the people of Panem?
What I think the role of government is to run the country and make sure that its citizens are safe and healthy, not take 24 of there kids and kill 23 of them.they should give the people the freedom to not be confined in to one district their whole lives and let them have a job that they want, also I think that they should be aloud to have better house with running water and all day electricity. In countries that don't give their people freedom there is usually a war going on or a riot because the people want to be free. If my freedom was taken away I would propulsion get a group together and rebel and try to over throw the government. The government controls the people of panam by constantly reminding them that they control them with the hunger games and by putting extreme limitations on their freedoms.

DeleteI completely agree with your opinion, Jack. The Panem government certainly shouldn't have the absolute say on what it's citizens do. Rather than doing this, the government should give their people the freedom to make their own choices, whether it be to move to another district, or to work as a doctor rather than a coal miner. Along with this, the government should help their citizens too, with like what Jack said, by providing running water and normal house needs. However above all, the government certainly shouldn't force death upon their citizens, like the hunger games does. Doing this would be recipe for rebellion.

DeleteThe government is supposed to care for there people by giving the supplies anyone needs and if there was a disaster big or small they should help to get over it.The freedoms they should not give to the people are the freedom to do whatever they want because then there'd be crime and violence.Some places in the world that do not have as much freedom are places like North Korea and some places in the Middle East were they're ruled by dictators.The government controls the people of Panem by having the Games and and putting them in districts were they can't get out and having watch guards everywhere.

DeleteI think that a government is supposed to care for its citizens. Unlike Panem that every day endangers many lives.A stable government should solve their problems with a logical answer. Instead because one of the 13 districts decided to rebel they get nuked and creating a game that involves 24 kids to go into an arena to murder each other. Plus if you are born in a district you stay in that distinct until you die. And in Katniss's case she was born in the poorest district of them all so she could barely ever be full. The reaping also adds to this because your not free to choose who goes I mean from district 11 the boys foot was crippled. That's defiantly having your freedom restricted.

The government in Panem is in the Capitol and they do not give the citizens of Panem many rights they can not even travel freely or say what they want to say. I think it's ridiculous that to solve a problem in Panem the government creates some crazy game that kills the children in their country instead of creating a fair solution that could not only help the citizens but also the citizens. The government is like a dictatorship that needs to be stopped so that there can be a civilized country.

Phanem is putting a everyday basis endanger of many live a super duper tidy goverment is they should solve all of the problems that they need to beacuase that's taking care of the goverment and the citizens because the one of the the 13 districts Will be chosen because would decide who will be helping the goverment. But what if you were born would the district tell your parents that you need to go and fight in the reaping for your family even if you were just born and you were only 3 why would ey want you to fight on the games
ReplyDeleteWhat I think the role of our government is to make reasonable laws and regulations and keep all of our citizens safe from things like the hunger games. Rules, laws, and regulations control partially what and how our citizens can act and respond to situations happening present day here and now. If government officials didn't come up with laws to regulate how people acted and spoke towards governing, the world would be full of treason and rebellion against the world governments. Not just here,but throughout the world government chain. So, yeah, government should be in control but it shouldn't control to a point to where people want to rebel out against the government system which will keep things intact and working.

The Capitol of Panem have so much control over the districts that the citizens don't even have any freedom. For example, the Capitol even makes sure that they have full control by selecting kids from each district to kill one another for their own amusement, which is not what a government is suppose to the to the citizens.

ReplyDeleteI believe the role of the government is to run and protect the country efficiently, while not taking all the power. They should care for their people by supporting their causes, and giving them equal rights to its own. When i say this i mean, the government should adopt and fund the ideas of the people, such as new companies and organizations, while not completing babying the citizens by giving them free money. Along with this, citizens should have normal human freedoms, such as the rights to freedom of speech, assembly, opinion, fair trial, etc, while still not hogging all the power for itself (Itself being the government.). If freedoms like these were taken away, i believe the best course of action would be to communicate with the government to regain them, or to simply move away. Some governments that don't offer people very much freedoms are the Chinese and Cuban governments. These governments, along with the Panem government, force things upon their citizens, such as work and mandatory military serving time, or in Panems case, the Hungergames. Due to this, these three governments are tyrannies.

Also the government should protect the country like you said in case other countries want to attack us and we have no one to make decisions or defend us. Also I agree that other countries dont have much freedoms especially places where there's dictatorship and when that happens there citizens react by causing riots. Our government can't let that happen.
DeleteI completely agree, Nicholas. Government should not take all of the power but it should have a moderate amount so that they can keep us from having things such as The Hunger Games. If the Government does not support us, we could all be poor and starving exactly how some of the districts are in the games. For the governments such as China and Panem, the citizens obviously don't like the fact that they have almost absolutely no freedom. In Panem, it is furiating how they can watch helpless kids die and just laugh! It is horrible for a government to have all of that power, and it should be changed.
DeleteI think the role of a government is to make sure the country they control doesn't get driven into chaos. The government has to protect its citizens, not kill them off like in the Hunger Games, and should give them opportunities to get good jobs, not one that they are forced to do. A government should give its citizens the freedoms to do as they please and all live in one capitol, not in 12 cruddy districts. A government should not make the citizens starve or have to break the law for food, but should at least provide a sufficient amount of food for the districts, not make the whole district share one loaf of bread. Overall a government should be the complete opposite of the Capitol from the Hunger Games.

If are goverment didn't care about us are society would be crazy and out of control. Are government has to know what's going on and what's happening or we will live bad lives. The government has to make fair laws that will help the common good. If they don't and are out of control they will start lots of riots which isn't good.
ReplyDeleteI think the role of government to its people should be a leadership role and letting them know they are as protected as possible and live in a country that they should be proud of. I think the government should give them freedoms and rights, unlike some countries who are so closely watched and regulated they are not free and cannot live without fear of punishment from there own government if they step out of line. The government of Panem is a lot like this where most of there citizens except for the Capitol live in perpetual fear of being punished by there government for disagreeing with the ludicrous ways of the Capitol. Showing any hint of rebellion to the Capitol will get you in a lot of trouble. I could never live like that, knowing that a lot of what you say can be turned against you.
ReplyDeleteI believe the governments role is to make sure their subordinates are well taught and are fed instead of making them work and work and work even more while all their hard barely benefits them it really helps the Capitol because they gouge themselves in the harvests of district eleven and use the coal from twelve for their heat.The districts don't get the materials they work for they work for a self centered government who sends twentyfour kids who have starved to death except for those districts who suck up to the government like lapdogs begging for food to just go die in a an arena while the country can't do anything to interfere with the capitol's entertainment

I know a place that is like panem north Korea they only let the people see what they wanted them to see and I would feel enraged if my freedom was taken away like there's. The gov. People also should not breaking out into fights or wars because of the government, they should be happy because the government should be taking care of them and not forcing people to go in an arena and kill each other like in the hunger games. Also the government should control every little thing that the districts do. In the hunger games the Capitol or the government controls most of the stuff that happens in the districts, like when they force the districts to make coal or producing something that the Capitol can use in case of an emergency. But if it was a good government the government would let the people who make the stuff eat or use it for their own use and give the left overs that they don't use to the government for reason like starvation in another district.

They shouldn't dictate people's lives like they do in Panem. Some of Panem is so ignorant to it that they don't even realize they are not free. If my freedoms were taken away from me I would probably cause some sort of rebellion. The government rules Panem very unfairly that to defend their territory they order 2 kids from every district to go into an arena and murder everyone. Any Government should just stay out of everyone's business.

It shouldn't be like the HUnger Gmaes and have citizens kills each other. That is cruelty. We are all equal and no body is better than each other. The government should be more responsible and not take advantage of their power. If my power was taken away I would be so mad and hope for someone to fix what was taken.

One time Mr.Bittner told us that every single time in history they tried to take firearms that dictatorship happened. Hitler and Napoleon took guns away to lose powers. I'm not saying I want guns, it's sad so many shootings are happening but usually it's the crazy 1/2% of the population doing this. They should not be given firearms. They should have a test where you are in a room and they check your shooting and know your background. You shouldn't be a able to walk into Walmart and buy one. Also I think that the Capitol is a dictatorship and shouldn't be so cruel. Why do the Capitol people have it all? It's not fair anyways

I think the role of the government is to make sure that their people are safe and have enough money to provide for themselves. The Capitol of Panem is nothing like that because they don't care about any of the other districts except for district 1 and 2.

If the government is a bad role model then people will petition towards them and be disrespectful to them. I don't think that in the hunger games the government accomplished this goal because they make kids from all districts participate in this one big event to basically kill each other. They make them fight for this one spot and it's just entertainment towards them.

Government should be scared the citizens will kick out the officeholder when ever they are preforming poorly. Government should keep peace only if they're needed. Government is like Batman.
